Summer Events in Brooklyn: Community, Faith, and Transformation in Marine Park

Celebrating a Summer of Ministry in Brooklyn: Marine Park

What does it look like when a church goes beyond four walls and takes the gospel into the heart of the community? At Calvary.NYC, this summer was filled with joy, outreach, and life-changing encounters with God’s Word. From kids’ programs and baptisms to discipleship and nursing home visits, God worked powerfully through His people.

Did you join us at Marine Park this summer? Or maybe you’re hearing about our events for the first time and wondering how you can be part of a church that actively serves the neighborhood. Let’s take a look back at what God did—and how you can get involved moving forward.

Friday Nights for Youth and Young Adults

Every Friday night in Marine Park, our high school students and young adults came together for something deeper than just hanging out. Yes, there were games and laughter, but there was also Bible study and prayer under the summer sky.
? Have you ever sat in a park with friends, opened God’s Word, and felt His presence in the middle of everyday life? That’s what these nights were all about—real conversations, real friendships, and real faith.

Church in the Park: July & August

Throughout July and August, Calvary.NYC held Church in the Park services at Marine Park. Neighbors walking their dogs stopped to listen. Families came with picnic blankets. Worship echoed across the open fields.

It was a simple yet powerful reminder: the church is not a building—it’s people gathered in the name of Jesus.

? What would it mean for you to worship outside, with your community gathered around in the open air?

Vacation Bible School in Marine Park

Vacation Bible School (VBS) right in Marine Park playground. Elementary and junior high students gathered for games, crafts, songs, and lessons that pointed them to Jesus.
But here’s what made it special: our high school and college students stepped up to serve. They led small groups, organized activities, and modeled what it looks like to follow Christ.
? Question for you: What if your child could grow in faith while also seeing older students lead by example? That’s the beauty of VBS—it connects generations and builds a lasting foundation in God’s Word.

Nursing Home Visits: Bringing Hope and Joy

Not all ministry happens in parks. This summer, teams from Calvary.NYC visited local nursing homes, including Sunrise, Chateau, and Hamilton.

Residents were encouraged with prayer, singing, and personal visits. Some had tears in their eyes, grateful that someone came to remind them that they are seen and loved.

? Do you know someone in a nursing home who could use encouragement and prayer?

Baptisms: Lives Changed Forever

Baptisms are always a highlight—and this summer we celebrated two! One in June and another in August. Each baptism represented a public declaration of faith, as individuals shared their testimony of following Jesus.

? Have you been baptized yet? If not, maybe this coming season is your time to take that step of faith.

One-on-One Discipleship Across the City

Beyond the larger events, discipleship happened in small, personal ways. Members met one-on-one in homes, cafes, and diners to read Scripture, pray, and encourage one another.
This kind of discipleship is what fuels lasting growth—relationships built around God’s Word.

? Who’s walking with you in your faith right now? Maybe God is calling you into a discipleship relationship this season.

Looking Ahead in Brooklyn

This summer was just the beginning. As Calvary moves into the fall, we’re excited to see more lives changed, more disciples made, and more opportunities to serve Marine Park, Brooklyn, all its Neighborhoods and beyond.

? We’d love to meet you! If you’re searching for a church community that takes God’s Word seriously and invests in the neighborhood, join us at Calvary.NYC
