Chapter seven starts with a man standing in a stripped orchard. "The

faithful man has perished from the earth, And there is no one upright among

men" (Micah 7:2). Do not trust in a friend. Do not put your confidence in a

companion. Guard the doors of your mouth from the one who lies in your

bosom. A son dishonors his father, a daughter rises against her mother, and

a man's enemies are the men of his own household — the verse Jesus quoted

about what following Him would cost.

And then verse seven, and the book turns on one word. Therefore. "Therefore

I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God

will hear me." Micah is not standing above the wreckage in pride. He is

standing in it in safety. He confesses his own sin, takes his share of the

discipline, and waits — while nothing has improved.

The book began with a name that asked a question. Micah means "Who is like

the Lord?" Seven chapters later the question comes back one more time, and

the answer is not power. It is pardon. "Who is a God like You, Pardoning

iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage?

He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy" (Micah

7:18). He casts our sins into the depths of the sea — the same sea that

closed over Pharaoh's army. Where He puts sin, it does not come back up.

The final message in "Who Is Like the Lord?" — a verse-by-verse walk through

 claims who gets him up (Micah 7:8)

- The day for building your walls — the borders come off and the circle

 widens (Micah 7:11–13)

- "Shepherd Your people with Your staff" — praying the Word back to God

 (Micah 7:14–17)

- Who is a God like You? — the name answered, and it is answered with mercy

 (Micah 7:18–20)
