Micah 2 — "He Comes To: The Shepherd" | Who Is Like the Lord? (Week 3)
Calvary Life Brooklyn · 9/13/2026
Micah 2 opens on a man lying in bed at night. He isn't sleeping — he's
planning. By morning he does it, and he can do it because it's in the power of
his hand. What he wants is a field. What he takes is a family's inheritance.
Chapter one was the Lord coming down. Chapter two is the Lord coming to — to a
flock whose field has been taken, whose heritage has been changed, and whose
own shepherds have gone bad.
"The one who breaks open will come up before them;
They will break out, Pass through the gate, And go out by it;
Their king will pass before them, With the Lord at their head."
— Micah 2:13 (NKJV)
In Israel the land wasn't an investment. It was the visible sign of a promise —
so taking a man's field cut him off from his share in the covenant. Read the
chapter the way a shepherd would: this is the field of the sheep and the safety
of the sheep. Their provision, their possession, their position. The Shepherd
guards all three; the enemy comes to take all three. We'll look at what we
actually possess in Christ and who we actually are in Him, at a shepherd who
has to protect the sheep even from themselves, and at the two verses where the
Shepherd starts talking — He assembles, He gathers, He breaks the gate open,
and He becomes their Head again.
