Romans 8:1-7 - Sanctification Part 3

FROM WRETCHED TO NEWNESS

Romans 7 ended with a desperate cry: "O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?"

Romans 8 answers with a glorious declaration: "There is therefore NOW no condemnation."

Romans 8 is the mountain peak of Scripture. It begins with "no condemnation" and ends with "no separation." It starts with the Spirit of life and concludes with the love of God from which nothing can separate us.

IN THIS MESSAGE:

Two Walks: Walking according to the Spirit vs. walking according to the flesh

Two Minds: Carnal mind (death) vs. spiritual mind (life and peace)

The Indwelling Spirit: The defining mark of every believer

Sons of God: Led by the Spirit, crying "Abba, Father"

KEY TRUTH:

It is incorrect to think there are two classes of believers—Spirit-filled and non-Spirit-filled. All believers have the Spirit. The question is: Are you yielded to the Spirit or yielded to the flesh? Humble or stubborn?

THE QUESTION:

How close to the line can you live? Does a child of God spend time figuring out how close to the world they can get and still be saved? Or do they spend time figuring out where they can get closer to God?

The goal: Pleasing God.

Join us this Sunday as we discover the life of no condemnation, the power of the indwelling Spirit, and the privilege of crying out "Abba, Father."
