The Mirror Turns.

Last week, we saw the wrath of God revealed toward the heathen. If you were sitting in the Roman congregation, you might have been nodding along: "Yes, Paul! Those pagans are terrible. Thank God I'm not like them."

Then Paul turns the mirror.

In this message, we confront two groups who thought they were safe:

⚖️ The Hypocrite (2:1-16) — Those who judge others while doing the same things, presuming on God's patience, and storing up wrath for themselves.

📜 The Hebrew (2:17-29) — Those who rest in their religious heritage, their knowledge of the law, and their rituals—while their hearts remain unchanged.

Hard Questions We Face:

Are you judging others while sinning secretly?

Have you mistaken God's patience for permission?

Is your religion outward only, or is your heart circumcised by the Spirit?

Does your life cause God's name to be blasphemed?

God's judgment is impartial. It falls on the moralist, the religious, and the pagan alike.

No one escapes. No one is exempt.

But this exposure is not cruelty—it's mercy. Because only when we stop hiding can we receive the righteousness we desperately need.
