GROWING UNDONE: A Study in Romans

Sermon 10: "Sanctification: The Experience of Faith – From Suffering to Glory"

Romans 8:18-39

"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." — Romans 8:18

FROM SUFFERING TO GLORY

Romans 8 began with "no condemnation" (v.1). It ends with "no separation" (v.39).

Between these two glorious bookends, Paul addresses the reality of suffering.

If we are children of God, heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ—why do we suffer? Why does creation groan? Why do we wait?

Paul's answer: The present sufferings are not worth comparing to the coming glory.

IN THIS MESSAGE:

📊 New Perspective: Suffering is temporary; glory is eternal

🌍 Creation Groans: Even the earth waits for redemption

🤰 Birth Pangs: Pain with purpose—something new is coming

🕊️ The Spirit Helps: Interceding for us with wordless groans

All Things for Good: The Master Weaver at work

🏆 More Than Conquerors: Not just surviving—overwhelmingly victorious

❤️ Nothing Can Separate: The grand finale of Romans 8

THE UNSTOPPABLE LOVE:

Paul asks three questions—and answers them all:

Question

Answer

Who can be against us?

If God is for us, no one succeeds

Who can condemn?

Christ died, rose, and intercedes

Who can separate us from Christ's love?

NO ONE

THE VERDICT:

"Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."

Not just barely winning. Super-conquerors. Overwhelmingly victorious.

We are more than conquerors through Christ

The struggle is real. Suffering is real. Groaning is real.

But the love of God is more real. The glory to come is more certain. The Spirit's help is more present.

And NOTHING can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
