From Doctrine to Doxology – The Grand Wrap-Up of Romans"

Romans 16:1-27

"Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ... to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen." — Romans 16:25-27

THE GRAND FINALE OF ROMANS

We have journeyed through the Book of Romans together—from the wrath of God revealed against all unrighteousness, to the righteousness of God revealed through faith in Jesus Christ, to the sanctification of the Spirit, to the sovereignty of God in Israel's past, present, and future, and finally to the application of all these doctrines in everyday life.

Now Paul concludes his letter. And he does so in a way that might surprise us.

He lists names. He sends greetings. He mentions friends.

Why? Because the gospel is not just a set of doctrines to believe. The gospel creates a family—a diverse, united, loving family of God.

IN THIS MESSAGE:

🙌 Be Thankful for Fellow Workers — Phoebe, Priscilla, Aquila, and many others

🌿 A Diverse Family — Jewish and Greek names side by side

⚠️ Be Aware of Divisive Persons — "Note those who cause divisions... and avoid them"

👥 Paul Didn't Serve Alone — Timothy, Tertius, Gaius, Erastus, and Quartus

📜 The Mystery Revealed — The gospel made known to all nations

🎶 The Doxology — "To God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever"

THE MYSTERIES OF ROMANS (WRAP-UP):

Romans 1-3 — The Mystery of the Wrath of God

Romans 3-5 — The Mystery of the Righteousness of God

Romans 6-8 — The Mystery of Sanctification

Romans 9-11 — The Mystery of Israel and the Church

Romans 12-15 — The Mystery of the Application

Romans 16 — The Mystery of the Family

THE NAMES OF ROMANS 16:

Both Jewish and Greek names appear in the greetings:

Andronicus, Junia, Herodion — Jewish names

Apelles, Tryphena, Tryphosa, Persis, Hermes, Julia — Greek names

Jew and Gentile, slave and free, men and women — all one in Christ.

This supports the entire theme of Romans: No distinction. One body. One family.
